Dr. Christopher Dunn is the Director of the Lyon Arboretum in Honolulu, Hawai‘i and Past President of the American Public Gardens Association. Previously, Christopher served for 3 years as Executive Director for Research at the Chicago Botanic Garden where he managed one of the largest botanic garden research programs in the country. Before joining CBG, he served for 10 years as Director of Research at The Morton Arboretum, another major public garden in the Chicago area. Christopher earned his bachelor’s degree in botany from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and his PhD from University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. He then completed a 3-year postdoctoral research appointment at University of Georgia. Currently, Christopher holds adjunct faculty status, and supervises graduate students, at Northwestern University and at the University of Illinois – Chicago, and serves on the Graduate Faculty in Botany at the University of Hawai‘i. He has long been involved in national and international plant conservation initiatives including most recently the “North American Botanic Garden Strategy for Plant Conservation.” He has contributed to the scientific literature via refereed publications in plant ecology and conservation biology. |
